Here's some interesting historical notes from the National Hockey League's public relations machine:
- The only goalies younger than Tampa Bay's Andrei Vasilevskiy to start a game in the Stanley Cup Final: Harry "Apple Cheeks" Lumley (1945: 18 y, 4 m), Don Beaupre (1981: 20 y, 4 m) and Patrick Roy (1986: 20 y, 7m)
- Chicago has a pretty impressive track record the longer a playoff series goes. The Blackhawks are 41-14 in Games 4-7 since the start of the 2009 Stanley Cup Playoffs, including a 7-2 record this year.
- The Blackhawks have overcome a 2-1 series deficit six times since 2009 Stanley Cup Playoffs, including a 6-game series win in 2013 Final.
- Interestingly, 9 of past 11 games between the Blackhawks and Lightning have been decided by 1 goal dating to 2011, including all 4 in 2015 Stanley Cup Final.
Thanks for sharing these stats. :-)
A bit off-topic, let's remember also the O'Brien Trophy (althought some fans refers it also as O'Brien Cup) from 1939 to 1950 to the NHL playoff runner-up and to imagine what if the O'Brien Trophy was still awarded to the Stanley Cup finalists.
