From The Moscow News:
Kharlamov’s explosive power won instant international fame at the opening game of the 1972 Summit Series between the Soviet Union and Canada, the first time Soviet hockey players had met with professional players. He scored two goals, and the Soviets won 7–3 in a victory that shocked the Western sporting world.
The idea for the film came from the 2004 U.S. movie “Miracle,” centered on the American hockey team’s victory over the Soviet side at the 1980 Winter Olympics, said producer Leonid Vereshchagin.
“We wanted to make a similar film, but from a Russian perspective,” he said.
I hope the English subtitled DVD makes it over here.
