1972 - Canada and USSR tied 4-4 in Winnipeg in Game 3 of their Summit series.

1988 - Calgary Flames obtained Doug Gilmour, Steve Bozek, and Mark Hunter from St. Louis, in exchange for Mike Bullard and Craig Coxe.

1988 - Calgary traded Steve Bozek and Paul Reinhart to Vancouver in exchange for Vancouver's 3rd round choice (Veli-Pekka Kautonen) in 1989 Entry Draft.

1990 - The NHL's San Jose franchise was officially named the "Sharks" by club officials.

1991 - San Jose Sharks obtained veteran defenseman Doug Wilson from the Chicago Blackhawks, in trade for Kerry Toporowski and the Sharks' second round pick in the 1992 Draft.

1996 - Montreal Canadiens obtained Scott Thornton from Edmonton, in exchange for Andrei Kovalenko.
