1989 - St. Louis Blues signed free agent goaltender Curtis Joseph, following one season of collegiate hockey at Wisconsin University.

1990 - Buffalo Sabres traded Phil Housley, Scott Arniel Jeff Parker and a first round draft pick (Keith Tkachuk) to the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for Dale Hawerchuk and a first round draft pick (Brad May).

1990 - Calgary traded Joey Mullen to Pittsburgh in exchange for the Penguins' second round choice (Nicolas Perreault) in the 1990 Entry Draft.

1998 - Detroit beat the Capitals 4-1 in Game 4 of the Finals for the Red Wings 2nd straight sweep in the Stanley Cup Finals.

1998 - With Detroit's Stanley Cup championship Scotty Bowman tied Toe Blake's coaching record with 8 Stanley Cup Championships.
