Steve Stamkos Looks To Join 60 Goal Club

It may be a season ending battle between two non playoff teams, but hockey fans will definitely be taking interest in the Winnipeg Jets hosting the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Lightning star forward Steven Stamkos is in pursuit of his 60th goal of the season. If he can accomplish it, he will become just the 20th player in NHL history to score 60 goals or more in a season. It would also mark the 39th time in NHL history 60 goals were scored (several of the aforementioned players hit 60 or more multiple times).

Here's a complete list 60 goal scorers in NHL history, complete with their respective goal scoring totals.

1) Wayne Gretzky - 5 times (92, 71, 87, 73, 62)
2) Mike Bossy - 5 times (69, 68, 64, 60, 61)
3) Phil Esposito - 4 times (76, 66, 68, 61)
4) Mario Lemieux - 4 times (70, 85, 69, 69)
5) Brett Hull - 3 times (72, 86, 70)
6) Jari Kurri - 2 times (71, 68)
7) Pavel Bure - 2 times (60, 60)
8) Steve Yzerman - 2 times (65,62)
9) Jaromir Jagr - 1 time (62)
10) Guy Lafleur - 1 time (60)
11) Reggie Leach - 1 time (61)
12) Lanny McDonald - 1 time (66)
13) Dennis Maruk - 1 time (60)
14) Alexander Mogilny - 1 time (76)
15) Bernie Nicholls - 1 time (70)

That's a pretty damn fine list! Hopefully Stammer can net enough to put him at 60.
