The Toronto Maple Leafs were hockey's best team back then. They went to 7 Stanley Cup finals in 9 years that decade. But they only won once!

I was watching with the sound off. The games doesn't look very different from today but for some reason the players look less stable, as if the ice were more slippery. Maybe it's the better skates of today. Or maybe it's my imagination.

The Skates were thin leather, and were that way until the mid 1970s when ballistic nylon was introduced into the boot. You could literally fold the tendon guard over the heel prior to that.
