Other Game Worn Jerseys Available Besides Henderson's

Much has already been made about Paul Henderson's game worn 1972 Summit Series jersey being up for auction.

Initially listed at $10,000, the bidding is currently exceeding $230,000, already surpassing the $191,000 record for highest priced game worn jersey (a Bobby Orr rookie season jersey) ever sold. The bidding should only get heavier as the auction's close approaches on the evening of June 22nd, especially with the corporate likes of Canadian Tire and government backed likes of Canadian museums publicly interested in the piece.

But the current ClassicAuctions.net offerings include over 100 other game worn items, mostly jerseys and sweaters. I thought I'd highlight a few now.

As you would expect there are some jerseys of some big name players - Bernie Parent, Marcel Dionne, Ed Belfour, Pat Lafontaine, Raymond Bourque, and Jari Kurri,  My birthday is coming in August so if anyone would like to buy me the Stan Smyl game worn jersey I'd be quite happy. If you're looking for a jerseys under $500 there is an impressive list of names that currently aren't generating a lot of bids, including Slava Kozlov, Alexei Zhitnik, Sergei Samsonov and Hayley Wickenheiser amongst others.

There are also some real neat rare game worn jerseys, including many from the WHA For something even a little bit more different you can have Marc Tardif's funny looking game worn helmet or better yet Chico Resch's game worn goalie mask. Or if you want something really rare, try Teeder Kennedy's wool Toronto Maple Leafs cardigan.

Aside from Henderson's jersey, I think my favorite game worn piece available would have to be Hakan Loob's 1978 European Championship jersey, shown below. I'm not sure why, other than it is Hakan Loob's and it is such an unexpected look for those of us who are so used to the traditional Tre Kroner jersey Team Sweden wears.

There is something of interest for all game-worn enthusiasts at the current ClassicAuctions.net offering, whether you are looking to spend $200,000 or $200.
