Ovechkin Cleans Up
2008 NHL Award Winners

A sharply dressed Alexander Ovechkin got all cleaned up and then proceeded to clean up at the NHL Awards show tonight. Here's a look at the winners:
Hart Trophy: Alexander Ovechkin
Pearson Trophy: Alexander Ovechkin
Art Ross Trophy: Alexander Ovechkin
Rocket Richard Trophy: Alexander Ovechkin
Norris Trophy: Nicklas Lidstrom
Vezina Trophy: Martin Brodeur
Calder Trophy: Patrick Kane
Selke Trophy: Pavel Datsyuk
Byng Trophy: Pavel Datsyuk
Masterton Trophy: Jason Blake
King Clancy Trophy: Vincent Lecavalier
Adams Trophy: Bruce Boudreau

Ovechkin made NHL history by becoming the first winner of all four awards, although the NHL goal scoring leader has only been honoured since 1999.

In other awards related news, the first ever "NHL Lifetime Achievement Award" winner is none other than Mr. Hockey himself - Gordie Howe.

Mike Babcock, coach of the Jennings trophy winning Red Wings for fewest goals against in the regular season, suggested there should an award for the team that scores the most goals during the regular season. He even went as far as to call it the Wayne Gretzky Award.

By winning his sixth Norris trophy, Nicklas Lidstrom now trails only Bobby Orr (8) and Doug Harvey (7) for most best-dman nods. That's some pretty impressive company.
