Canada Wins Bronze At Pyeongchang Olympics

After a disappointing performance in a semi-final loss to Germany, Team Canada redeemed itself nicely with an at-times wild 6-4 win over the Czech Republic to win the bronze medal at the 2018 Olympics.

Now Olympic bronze is never the goal in Canada, but this band of castoffs did the country proud with by medalling.

Think back to 1998. Team Canada loses a shootout heartbreaker to the Czechs in the semis of the first ever NHL Olympics. Forced to play for bronze, the sulking Canadians pretty much never showed up against Finland and went home with nothing to show for it. It was arguably Canada's lowest Olympic hockey moment ever.

After a tough loss to the Germans, the Canadian coaches and players did an inspiring job of regrouping and playing with heart and energy.

The lessons of 1998 were learned and on full display today. And this Canadian team of ultimate underdogs showed what Canadian heart is all about - even if they did not win the gold medal.
