Charles Fortier

Not a whole lot is known about Charles Fortier. It is believed he played one NHL game with the Montreal Games on December 15th, 1923. But even that is up for debate.

Fortier was a forward from Rockland, Ontario, not far from Ottawa. The statistical record has him playing senior in Ottawa and across the Quebec border in Hull from 1916 through to 1925.

He attended the Montreal Canadiens training camp in 1923, but researchers at the Society for International Hockey Research discovered newspaper reports that said he left the team on December 14th, 1923 due to homesickness.

If true, it seems unlikely he played the next night in a Montreal jersey, but that is what the official statistical record continues to show.
