1996: NHL Game Cancelled Due To Fallen Scoreboards

That is the Buffalo Sabres 8 sided, $3 million brand new Sony Jumbotron scoreboard. Crews were lowering it to do routine maintenance when a cable broke, causing the clock to fall and forcing the NHL to reschedule the game vs. the Boston Bruins for later in the season.

Fortunately nobody was injured in this scary incident.
