Nicklas Lidstrom: Greatest Red Wings Player of All Time?

That's the argument Pat Caputo makes here:

To a generation of hockey fans, raised in the 1950s and 1960s, Gordie Howe will always be the greatest Red Wing of all time.

To another generation, those raised beyond the early 1980s, it is overwhelmingly Steve Yzerman.

Yet, with all due respect to Mr. Hockey and The Captain, the greatest Red Wing of all is Lidstrom.

Wow! That's pretty lofty company. And I'm willing to give him the top three billing. I might even be open to the idea of him being better than Yzerman ultimately. But better than Gordie?

It's an interesting article worth a read.
