Sergei Fedorov Coming Out Of Retirement, May Play Defense

Sergei Fedorov is coming out of retirement.

The 43 year old certain Hockey Hall of Famer is the general manager of the famed CSKA Moscow hockey club in the Kontinental Hockey League. The team has not done well this season, starting 5-7-2-2 (different point totals are awarded for overtime wins and losses in the KHL).

Here's an interesting tidbit from Finnish hockey reporter Juha Hiitela:

Fedorov didn't play tonight but apparently he's been playing D in practices. Played D some time back in Detroit too when they had injuries.

The only defenseman on the current CSKA roster that I have ever heard of before (not that that means much in itself) is Daniil Markov. Viktor Kozlov, Aleksey Morozov, Alexander Ragulin, Oleg Saprykin, Brandon Reid and Sergei's brother Fyodor are notable forwards.

CSKA's website does list Sergei Fedorov as a forward, as well.
