Doug Harvey And The Table Hockey Extravaganza

Here's a great YouTube find: From 1960 It's Doug Harvey playing a game of table hockey with his son, Doug Jr. There's even an offer for you to get a table top game just like they have, though I suspect it may be hard to find nowadays.

Now I know where you can find lots of table hockey this weekend. And I mean lots. Vancouver is hosting a Table Hockey Extravaganza on September 20th and 21st, 2013 at Robson Square, right in the heart of the city.

Eight table hockey enthusiasts are going to play each other for 30 consecutive hours in order to set a world record. They want you to come down and join them, if only for a short time. Play some games of your own and cheer them on. You can even win a Stiga hockey table signed by many members of the Vancouver Canucks.

Of course money is being raised for charity in the process. They are hoping to raise $30,000 for Five Hole For Food and Canuck Place. It is a worthy cause and sure to be lots of fun.

I rank player ability as the third most important ingredient, as first and foremost as a tie breaker. Hence, I'm not necessarily looking for the better player, as in text book definitions of what a hockey player should be, but for players with the greatest careers and greatest legacies. Therefore the best player is not n…
