Habs Wrestled With Leafs Tough Play

In October of 1946 the Montreal Canadiens were so concerned about the physical play of the Toronto Maple Leafs that they threatened to sign professional wrestler and Quebec folk hero Yvon Robert for a game against Toronto.

Toronto boss Conn Smythe replied in jest, saying he would sign English Canada's equally famous wrestler, Whipper Billy Watson.
