This Day In Hockey History: Sept 7th

1988 - Tony Esposito, Brad Park and Guy Lafleur were inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. Also inducted were Buddy O'Connor in the veterans' catagory, Ed Snider in the builder's catagory and George Hayes into the officials category.

2011 - A plane carrying the Kontinental Hockey League team Lokomotiv Yaroslavl to a KHL game in Minsk crashed shortly after takeoff, killing all of the team's roster (plus four players from the Loko MHL junior squad) and coaching staff. Former NHLers Brad McCrimmon, Pavol Dimetra, Karlis Skrastins, Ruslan Salei, Karel Rachunek, Igor Korolev, Alexander Karpovtsev and Josef Vasicek were among the victims. Whether you follow the KHL at all or not, part of every hockey fan will be cheering on Lokomotiv Yaroslavl in their return to competition this coming season.
