1974 - In the NHL Amateur draft held in Montreal, the expansion Washington Capitals used the #1 pick overall to select Greg Joly.

1981 - Jean Ratelle announced his retirement from the NHL.

1987 - Philadelphia Flyers defeated the visiting Oilers 3-2, in Game Six of the Stanley Cup Finals forcing a decisive game 7.

2003 - Goalie Parick Roy announced his retirement after 18 NHL seasons with Montreal and Colorado.
