Juha "Whitey" Widing, one of the early Hollywood hockey stars. This Finnish born Swede played junior hockey in Canada before emerging as a NHL star in Los Angeles.
The fast skater with an excellent shot was a consistent offensive presence in the 1970s. The Hockey Scouting Report 1976 said ". . . one of the NHL's most flamboyant skaters... lively dressing room personality where he is a prankster... Larry regan, former Kings' GM, thought so much of Widing, that he refused to discuss a deal for Bobby Hull."
