1934 - Herbie Lewis scored the first power play overtime goal in NHL history, at 1:33 of OT to give the Red Wings a 2-1 win in Toronto, in Game 1 of their Stanley Cup Semi-Final series.

1959 - Montreal's Dickie Moore set an NHL record for most points in a season. His 96th point broke Gordie Howe's record of 95 points, set in 1952-53.

1964 - Rangers' Andy Hebenton played in his final NHL game -- the 630th consecutive of his career. He never missed a single game.

1970 - Boston's Bobby Orr became the first defenseman in NHL history to score 30 goals in a season, with 2 goals and 2 assists in a 5-0 win over the Minnesota North Stars.

1975 - Boston defenseman Bobby Orr scored his 9th (and final) career hat trick, and added an assist in an 8-2 Bruins' win against the Capitals in Boston.

1981 - Rookie Dino Ciccarelli scored four goals, including the first hat trick of his NHL career to lead the Minnesota North Stars to a 9-3 win against Detroit.

1989 - Buffalo's Clint Malarchuk escaped serious injury when his throat was slashed by a skate in an accident during a game against the Blues. Sabres lost 2-1 to St. Louis in Buffalo.

2000 - Detroit's Pat Verbeek scored twice to give him 500 career goals, in a 2-2 tie against the visiting Calgary Flames. Verbeek became the 28th NHL player to score 500 goals, and the first to get 500 goals and 2,000 penalty minutes.

2004 - L.A.'s Luc Robitaille picked up an assist to set an NHL record for most career points by a left wing with the 1,370th of his NHL career (passing John Bucyk) as the Kings lost 2-1 to the visiting Edmonton Oilers.
