1952 - The Bruins' home game was moved to 4,000 seat Boston Arena when a section of roof over the North station track platform in Boston Garden collapsed.

1977 - Rod Gilbert scored a goal and added an assist to become the first player in NY Rangers history (and the 11th in NHL history) to score 1,000 career points

1980 - Washington beat Montreal 3-1 to end the Canadiens' 34 game unbeaten streak against the Caps. Washington had been 0-32-2 against Montreal since entering the NHL in October 1974.

1984 - Bill Hajt scored the 4,000th goal in Sabres history, in a 5-2 win over the Hartford Whalers, in the Sabres sixth consecutive victory.

1989 - Washington's Dale Hunter scored the 4,000th goal in Capitals' history, as Washington lost 3-2 at Vancouver.

1992 - Los Angeles Kings acquired Paul Coffey from the Pittsburgh Penguins, in exchange for Brian Benning, Jeff Chychrun and a 1st round draft pick in 1992.

1992 - Pittsburgh Penguins trade Mark Recchi, Brian Benning and LA's first round pick in the 1992 draft (Jason Bowen) to the Philadelphia Flyers for Kjell Samuelsson, Rick Tocchet and Ken Wregget.

1998 - New York Rangers named John Muckler as their new head coach. The move came one day after the firing of coach Colin Campbell.

1999 - Theo Fleury had two goals and an assist (in a 6-3 win over the visiting Mighty Ducks) to become the Flames all-time leading point scorer.

As per the Dale Hunter entry, that game was the Canucks' fifth in a row, which tied a club record at the time. They would extend it to seven, and that record stood until 2002.
