Pucks On The 'Net: Game Three

With two dramatic wins in the Stanley Cup Finals, and with just 3 losses in total since round one, I am trying very hard not to be too over-confident about the Canucks chances of finally winning the Stanley Cup.

But is it really possible that the Canucks are going to lose 4 of the next 5 games and drop the Stanley Cup?

The answer, of course, is yes. It is possible. Remember Chicago? Somehow that almost completely blew up on the Canucks.

It seems hard to believe that it was just a little over a month ago that Vancouver almost blew a 3-0 series lead. They needed overtime in game 7, a big save by Roberto Luongo off of Patrick Sharp and a bigger goal by Alex Burrows to finally close off the Hawks. Had Sharp scored on that set up from Jonathan Toews, today we would be talking about firing coaches and front office personnel, trading off half the team and burning all our fan club membership cards. Somehow we got the bounce, and now look where we are!

They couldn't possibly jeopardize it all again, could they?

Game three promises to be a very big game. Vancouver's realistic goal this week is to get a split in Boston. Losing game 3 would not be the end of the world. But maybe, just maybe, Vancouver will show they learned their lessons from Chicago? Will they show that killer instinct they failed to show time and time again? Will the put their championship foot down on Boston's throat?

Or will they let Boston back into the series? Will they give Boston some life?

Game three is going to be a very big game, indeed.
