- From Elias: Niclas Wallin scored the 4 playoff goal of his career on Sunday, giving San Jose a 2-1 victory over the Detroit Red Wings. All of Wallin's career goals have been game winners. Th 10 year veteran's first three playoff goals were all scored in overtime for the Carolina Hurricanes (two in 2002, one in 2006). Gus Bodnar is only the other player in NHL history whose first four postseason goals were game-winners. Interestingly Bodnar, a playmaking center with Toronto and Chicago in the 1940s and 1950s, only scored 4 playoff goals total in his 12 year career.
- Vincent Lecavalier scored his second career playoff overtime goal, giving the Tampa Bay Lightning the win over Washington in game 2. Lecavalier's other career OT goal also came against Washington.
- Philadelphia's James Van Riemsdyk is pushing hard for the unofficial John Druce Award as the unexpected breakout player of these playoffs.
