Here's some puck thoughts heading into the weekend:
- All of British Columbia is in love with Ryan Kesler right now. Hey, he's been Vancouver's best player in the playoffs, no doubt. But it is good to see him scoring now, too. He's got three goals in his last two games. That matches his career total output in the previous 32 post-season contests combined.
- A lot of people are criticizing the Sedin twins, and with some merit. But they are breaking out, particularly Henrik. The captain was instrumental in both of Kesler's goals in game 3, even though he did not get any assists. Henrik got 3 points in game 4, including the assist on Kesler's highlight reel goal. Kesler would not have scored that goal had Henrik not sprung him breaking through the neutral zone with speed.
- It's pretty amazing to think that it is very possible that Vancouver's roster has two different forwards who may both be Hart Trophy winners, but it is another forward who is the heavy favorite for the Conn Smythe trophy (should they win the Cup, that is).
- Assuming Vancouver and San Jose both close out their respective series, can you imagine how great that Western Conference championship series will be? Nothing will match that Vancouver/Chicago series, but that series may come close!
