Pucks On The 'Net: Barn Painting Edition

Some ice thoughts for a Sunday in May:
  • The Canucks were lucky not to lose in regulation time, but unlucky not to win in OT. Nashville was by far better team in first 3 periods, then the Canucks woke up in OT. Pekke Rinne absolutely robbed them a couple of times.
  • Despite not playing well in regulation, Canucks held a 1-0 lead until a fluky goal with 1:07 left in the game tied it up. No one should be blaming Roberto Luongo, who was by far the Canucks best player in this game, but again he allowed a crucial goal in the dying moments.
  • What a difference that makes. Hang on for another minute, Canucks have commanding 2-0 series lead thanks to consecutive 1-0 wins, with Luongo in their heads. Instead Nashville gets the needed split, has the momentum, and are feeling very good about themselves as they had back to the very boisterous Bridgestone Arena. It's not quite textbook, but that's exactly what the Predators wanted heading home.
  • Ryan Kesler has played really well at times in this playoffs, yes, but it sure would be nice if he scored a goal.
  • Sedins have looked better against Nashville, but its time to break this slump. Let's throw Mason Raymond's name in there too.
  • Line of the night (during the somewhat boring regulation time) - "This is no Picasso. They're painting the barn tonight." - Glenn Healy.
  • Not quite sure what to make of Glenn Healy's breaking news sometimes, but his suggestion that the NHL is looking to curtail the Green Men is unfortunate. They're entertaining and people love them. It's good to see fans making a name (and undoubtedly a buck or two) for themselves, like Krazy George or that trumpet player the Quebec Nordiques had once upon a time. The Green Men make a lot of charity appearances. Leave them alone.

Glen Healy has a knack for inappropriate statements. Personnally I think he is self centred and believes his opinion is the only one that matters. It is amplified by his being out of touch with popular fan issues
