Pucks On The 'Net

Here's some random notes from the world of playoff hockey.
  • Oh oh, Boston fans. Montreal has a 2-0 series lead on the highly regarded Bruins. To make things worse, history is definitely not on the Bruins side. The franchise is 0-26 when down 2-0 in a best of 7 series.
  • NHL Teams that lead best of seven series 2-0 historically have a .866 series win percentage (266-41).
  • The Bruins just can't score. Maybe they need Phil Kessel?
  • The Kings are putting up more of a fight against the Sharks than many people expected.
  • Joe Thornton has 9 goals in his last 66 playoff games and is a combined -23. Thanks to @dtolensky
  • Meanwhile, Drew Doughty tied the Kings' club record for defensemen with 4 points last night. Interestingly, only 3 Kings players have ever had 5 points in playoff game. Linemates Wayne Gretzky (1-4-5), Tomas Sandstrom (3-2-5), and Tony Granato (3-2-5) - all in same game in the 1990 playoffs! The Kings embarrassed the Calgary Flames 12-4 on April 10th, 1990.
  • That's Parity: Did you know Daniel Sedin is the 10th different player to lead the league in scoring in the last 10 seasons? Back in the 1980s Wayne Gretzky just kept the Art Ross Trophy at his house.
