Puck On The 'Net

Here's a funny story from the July 24th, 1999 Vancouver Sun, sent my way via hockey researcher extraordinaire Jennifer Conway:
Forsberg insisted he was serious about purchasing an autographed Brett Hull Dallas Stars jersey in the (Steve Tambellini Charity Golf Classic) auction so he could burn it along with the firewood in his hotel room. Forsberg stopped bidding at $1,400, allowing Trail's Brian LeRose to scoop it for his cabaret at the Terra Nova Hotel.
Here's some Slap Shots:
  • Here's a heart warming story about Jean Beliveau. Just another day for the classiest man in hockey.
  • Brendan Shanahan is quite comfortable in his NHL executive suit. The hacks and whacks there are softer than in front of the goalie I'm sure.
  • This was unexpected. I was quoted on Medscape.com. Call me Dr. Joe. Mom will be so proud.

Classy? Yes. Classiest? Don't know about that.

My choice would be Trevor Linden; but Ken Dryden and Dick Irvin also would be on the list.

Maybe Jean could be the classiest "elder statesman"?

His between-periods HNIC interview during the playoffs certainly left me wanting more.
