One Win At A Time

Here's how Syl Apps recalled Toronto's unthinkable comeback from 3-0 down in the 1942 Stanley Cup Finals:

"After we lost that third game, we thought hey, we can't go back to Toronto after losing four straight. We got to win at least one game. So we fought like made to win that fourth game so we could go back to Toronto with at least one victory and not be ashamed. Well, we did beat them, 4-3, and then we beat them 9-3, and we thought, hey, maybe we do have a chance to beat them. I can still see that clock going around in Maple Leaf Gardens at the end of the last game, with us ahead 3-1, and I remember thinking, 'Well, they can't beat us now.' It was a great feeling."
