Playoff Slap Shots: Kick In The Pants

Putting the puck on the 'Net:
  • After watching the Canucks game I spent 30 minutes doing hockey stops on laminate floor, with my girlfriend rolling ball at my feet. It is impossible make a distinct kicking motion while stopping. Daniel Sedin must be superhuman. Terrible call by Mike Murphy and NHL tonight.
  • Where was Mike Murphy and this fuzzy logic in 1989 when Joel Otto kicked the puck the in the net against Kirk McLean?
  • I can not get over the growing amount of people who seem to really believe there is a NHL conspiracy against the Canucks. Paranoid much? Geez! It was terrible call by the NHL replay gods, and the referees have been wildly inconsistent all series, but there is no malicious intentions towards the Canucks. That is just stupid.
  • While I don't necessarily blame Canucks fans for loudly voicing their displeasure with the refereeing, I think they should be more worried about their team's specialty teams play.

There may not be a "conspiracy" against the Canucks, but the disallowed goal should have at least been "inconclusive", which would mean that it would be a goal. Go to:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Murphy_%28ice_hockey_b._1950%29
Look at how much Mike Murphy (the war room) has played and coached the LA kings, and especially note the quote that Mike Murphy has: has shown considerable bias to teams he played for in his career".
There is a problem with this situation...

While those are all some pretty telling points there, TJ...I don't know if I really trust a source like Wikipedia. Although I wouldn't be surprised if it was all true.

What happened to the supposed rule change in '08 where if your skate never leaves the ice, it's a good goal? Why did that never stick? It removes the danger of potentially kicking the goalie or other players, and gives a consistent model on what is or isn't a goal.

Funny how every team thinks the officials are out to get them. I could care less about this series but having watched the games the Canucks deserve to be down 2-1. The penalty kill is terrible and they are taking too many stupid penalties. How come no Canucks fans are talking about the blatant dives of Raycroft and Sedin? The so called "goal" was a either way call it wasn't a clear "goal" he knew what he was doing and I could see that being a goal and see it being waved off it's pointless to argue it now. Say it is a goal the game is still 4-3 L.A. and now the Kings are playing angry and might take some momentum, clearly the Canucks started playing with some after it was disallowed. Get over it. The Kings were a better team last night. This series could easily be 3-0 L.A. or Vancouver that's what playoff hockey is about. And complaining about a 2 many men penalty? It's a clear rule they broke it penalty stands, you still need to kill the penalty they have proven they can't..... Good playoff series are always picked apart by whiny bitter fans. The Sharks and Devils have been victims of ticky tack calls but I don't hear there fans crying about it.
