Brodeur Coming Into Olympics Cold

While most people seemed comfortable with Martin Brodeur as Canada's starting goalie, in the past couple of weeks his game has stumbled too.

In his last 10 games he is 4-5-1 with a 2.65 GAA and a .896 save percentage. Hardly intimidating numbers. To make matters worse for Canada, #2 goalie Roberto Luongo has had his rough spots in the past couple of weeks too.

Now I have not followed the New Jersey Devils closely enough in the past 10 games to really know how Brodeur is playing. The whole team has struggled, inflating Brodeur's stats. But bottom line is he could be playing better right now, too.

While there may be some reason for concern in Canada, most people are taking it in stride. Brodeur's track record suggests he'll be ready for the big games. But he has four games left before the Olympics. He can cement his starting status with 4 strong outings, or, with continued struggles, really fire up the debate here in Canada.
