Other Canadian Hockey Players At The Olympics

There are 23 hockey players named to Team Canada, but there will be five other Canadian-born athletes playing hockey at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.

Hnat Domenichelli, pictured, of Edmonton has his Austrian citizenship. Even though he played with Canada at the 1996 World Juniors, he will represent Austria in February. Jason Holland of Morinville, Alberta will represent Germany, as will Chris Schmidt of Beaver Lodge, Alberta and John Tripp of Kingston, Ontario. All four have NHL experience.

Paul Stastny of Team USA was born in Quebec City where his Slovakian father Peter starred in the NHL. Paul grew up in the United States and has been a dual citizen since birth.

In all fairness, Canada, too, has a foreign born player on its team. Dany Heatley was born in Germany, but grew up in Calgary.
