Gretzky's New Gig?

I caught this tidbit from James Mirtle's Twitter account:
Hockey Canada will introduce Team Canada’s GM for the 2010 World Championship at a press conference in Toronto on Wednesday, December 9.
Cue the speculation that Wayne Gretzky has found a new job, although I suspect if his public aspirations to one day coach again are true, he'd rather serve as coach than manager. Could he serve as both?

UPDATE: Sources suggest Mark Messier will be named as Canada's general manager. Coud this open the door for Gretz to coach? Or Craig MacTavish, who is coaching Canada at the Spengler Cup?

Gretz appears to be keeping himself busy these days looking for a luxury apartment in Manhattan. While Wayne was shooting a commercial for ESPN, wife Janet looked at apartments priced at $7.4M, $12M and $14.5M each.

It appears Wayne's future is in New York. Does that mean he will work at NHL headquarters? Or is he aligning himself with the New York Oilers Rangers, where ol' buddies Glen Sather and Mark Messier currently run the show?

Spenger Cup roster: Canada's Spengler Cup roster will include a few names familiar to NHL fans, most notably draft bust Alexandre Daigle. The 35 year old Daigle currently plays in Switzerland.

Other names NHL fans may be familiar with include defensemen Ric Jackman, Micki Dupont and Jamie Rivers and forwards Mark Bell, Curtis Brown and Boyd Devereaux.
