Thoughts on Avery and other things.

Sean Avery gets a 6 game suspension from the NHL, although it appears that the Dallas Stars are looking to banish him for much longer. Although they might have trouble burying him in the minor leagues. Enough about Avery. The last couple of years in New York he was a decent player, but his sideshow tactics have more than eliminated that. Now he is a marginal player, and worse yet, a terrible teammate. He is exactly what he has portrayed himself to be: a low class embarrassment.

Congrats to Elias, Clemmensen

Patrik Elias scored at 2:46 of overtime to give the Devils a 3-2 win at Philadelphia. It was Elias's 15th career regular-season overtime goal, tying him with Jaromir Jagr and Mats Sundin for the all-time NHL lead in that category. Interestingly it was only his third OT goal scored while on the road.

With the victory goalie Scott Clemmensen became the first Devils goaltender other than Martin Brodeur to win a game against Philadelphia since Chris Terreri on April 16, 1999.

Sykora Can't Get A Hat

Here is an interesting stat. Petr Sykora, who scored twice on Thursday night, has 282 career goals but has never recorded a hat trick. Only one player in NHL history has scored more goals than Sykora without ever scoring three in a game: Larry Murphy (287).

Top Ten Habs

With 100s of players to choose from, including over 40 Hall of Famers, it is no easy task to definitively list the top ten Montreal Canadiens players of all time. But that's what TSN has done. It's all part of a new special section to celebrate Les Canadiens centennial. Check out The Century Club.

Habs Centennial Plaza

Speaking of the Habs, a year to the day from the Club’s 100th anniversary, on December 4, 2009, the Canadiens officially inaugurated the Centennial Plaza presented by Ford. Located on De La Gauchetière, corner of De La Montagne, the Centennial Plaza honors the Canadiens four greatest legends, Howie Morenz, Maurice Richard, Jean Béliveau and Guy Lafleur, and also pays tribute to all their fans who are taking their rightful place in the team’s rich history.

David Carle may have been forced to retire from hockey due to illness, but he's learned he can still love and participate in this great game.

Barry Melrose is heading back to ESPN to be a game analyst. Does he have any credibility left? Didn't he just prove that the game passed him by years ago?

Christmas is less than three weeks away. This may be the weirdest Christmas music video ever. But I like it!

Well, it looks like you can now take Sykora off the hatless list (:D)
