Hockey's Believe It Or Not

I think I've finally settled on a regular Wednesday feature here at GreatestHockeyLegends.com. I'm calling it Hockey's Believe It Or Not.

On Wednesday I will post incredulous stories from hockey history. The only catch is they all actually happened. I would call it Hockey's Believe It, but that's just not as catchy. But most certainly you can believe all of the crazy and wacky stories posted here every Wednesday.

Let's begin with a look at a beautiful hockey card of Jacques Lemaire.

It's 1974-75 OPC/Topps card #24. Only one thing - Jacques Lemaire never played for the Buffalo Sabres! So why is Lemaire wearing a Sabres jersey?!

It turns out Lemaire is not the only player to suddenly find himself in such a situation.

in 1979/80 OPC/Topps has Dale McCourt playing with the Kings, which never happened.

I know OPC/Topps was guilty of some pretty bad airbrushing on some cards in the past, usually to try to keep on top of late transactions, trades and free agency signings. But whatever information they had about Lemaire and McCourt was completely and shockingly false!
