Monday's Famous Firsts

It's Monday, which many people consider to be the first day of the week. It's the traditional first day back to work and back to school. Nowadays many people, and most calendars, consider Sunday to be the first day of the week, but I'm going to go with Monday for my new feature: Monday's Famous Firsts.

Every Monday, Monday's Famous Firsts will start off our week with a look at one of hockey's great accomplishments, more specifically looking at the first time the feat has happened in hockey history.

Over the upcoming Mondays you can expect features on the likes of:
  • The first Russian-trained player in the NHL
  • The first goalie to wear a mask
  • The first team to travel by air
  • The first artificial ice rink
  • The first NHL rink to use a Zamboni
  • The NHL's first deaf hockey player
  • The first player to play for all "Original Six" teams
  • The first NHL penalty shot
  • The first NHLer to play Major League Baseball
  • The first coach to pull his goalie for an extra attacker
  • The first coach to change lines on the fly
  • The first helmet
  • The first puck
Hopefully everyone will enjoy this piece of hockey history. Every Monday be sure to check out Monday's Famous Firsts!

I'm hoping to have a regular feature each day of the week. This week I'll be introducing the daily features, although I'm still open to suggests for at least two days.
