Kelly Chase Battling Serious Illness

From the Belleville News Democrat:

Former St. Louis Blues winger and longtime radio color analyst Kelly Chase is dealing with a serious illness, but plans to continue his broadcasting duties with the team.

Chase confirmed Wednesday that doctors found a small lesion on his brain following a medical scare earlier this summer while vacationing in his native Saskatchewan.

Sad news. Chase is incredibly well liked in St. Louis, both with teammates and the fans. He is always generous with charities and kids, and was recognized in 1998 with the King Clancy award for his contributions off the ice.

On the ice he was a scrappy though average-sized enforcer. He never quit working and no matter how daunting the opponent, he would never back down.

Good luck Chaser. We know you won't back down from this fight either.

Thoughts are with you Chaser--you fought the tough guys, you can fight this, too!

You are one of the greatest motivators on and off the ice. It's always been an inspiration to see and hear you, because you emanate an aura of hope to all.
