Hockey Memories Alive In Kingston

On the eve of the annual Syl Apps charity golf tournament, shinny stories abound at the Old Stones watering hole in downtown Kingston.

A dozen or more past National Hockey League serfs have gathered inside the oasis at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel to quench a thirst and catch up with familiar foes and fans from yesteryear.

Two-thirds of the Chicago's old MPH line, Jim Pappin and Dennis Hull, are here. No sign of Pit Martin, though. That trio played together for seven season. Today, seven games is more the norm.

"I only had three left-wingers in my 15 professional years," notes the 68-year-old Pappin. "Dick Gamble in Rochester, Bob Pulford in Toronto and Dennis Hull in Chicago.... Full Whig-Standard Story
