Two Weeks Notice

As of this morning I have officially filed two weeks notice. I'm quitting my job as the internet's resident hockey history blogger in order to fill the vacant general manager's job in Vancouver.

Public announcement of the hiring is imminent. I will continue to post about hockey history until that time.

To the long suffering fans of the Vancouver Canucks I make you three promises:

1. I will acquire goal scorers this off season
2. We will make the playoffs next season
3. Robert Luongo will get a vasectomy as soon as possible

In all seriousness, I don't particularly think Dave Nonis' firing was just. Most GMs get at least 5 years, he only really had 3, 4 if you include the lockout year. I think he should have had a chance to make an impact this off season. The team is in decent shape, with 15 players signed and $15M or so spending room under the salary cap. Finding a couple of scorers shouldn't be too hard. Of course, finding the right two players is an entirely different story.

But this is a results oriented business. And the results have not been good on Canada's West Coast.
