NHL Playoff Legends: Gordie Howe

It should come as no surprise that the man known as Mr. Hockey has to be included in any list of Stanley Cup heroes.

Gordie Howe hoisted the Stanley Cup above his head 4 times in his career: 1950, 1952, 1954 and 1955. On 5 occasions he led all players in post season scoring, and on 3 occasions he led all goal scorers as well.

There was no playoff MVP award for most of Howe's NHL career. But if there had been, he almost certainly would have won it in 1955 when he was easily the best player in the playoffs. He established a new record for points (20) and led in goals with nine. He scored three game winning tallies, and set up another three winners. He had points in 9 of his 11 games played, and was also a key penalty killer.
