The Greatest Stanley Cup Champion?

It is a very subjective and loaded question, but just who is the greatest Stanley Cup champion?

That's what the British Columbia daily newspaper The Vancouver Province wants to know.

The Province has assembled an expert panel, and are allowing the online public to weigh in with votes every Sunday through Wednesday. Contending teams are pitted together in imaginary playoff series. The panel and the voters have to decide who would win, with each block representing 50% of the final results.

Currently, the 1976-77 Montreal Canadiens are matched up against the 1974-75 Philadelphia Flyers. The 1981-82 New York Islanders are taking on the 1987-88 Edmonton Oilers. Meanwhile the 1983-84 Oilers take on the 1971-72 Boston Bruins in a real toughie. The old school match up has the 1951-52 Detroit Red Wings against the 1955-56 Montreal Canadiens.

Who do you think would win? Discuss in my comments section and of course vote at The Vancouver Province website.
