Dave Balon Passes Away

Some sad news to pass along your way this afternoon, although in many ways it is for the best.

After an excruciating and life long battle with Multiple Sclerosis, a disease which initially forced him to retired from the National Hockey League, former New York Ranger Dave Balon has passed away.

Earlier this year I posted a biography on Dave Balon, highlighting a National Post article that chronicled his tragic fight against the debilitating disease. Joe O'Connor's article was as heart wrenching now as it was the first time I read it. Not only was Balon going through hell, so was his family.

Dave Balon is survived by his wife Gwen, daughter Jodi and son Jeff. They no longer have to live with Mulitple Sclerosis either.
