Check Out Lowetide

I continue to be impressed with the Edmonton Oilers blog Lowetide.

Clearly a veteran fan of the game, Lowetide provides insight and opinion on everyday happenings in Edmonton and around the NHL, often by offering historical insight. He doesn't bore us with statistical algorithms or elongated essays. Instead he introduces the reader to history as he remembers it. It's really quite well done, and the part I like best about it is he often remembers players everyone else has long forgotten about.

Recently Lowetide has tied in current events to the careers of Norm Ferguson, Bobby Sheehan, Ed "Sock" Hatoum, Brad Park, Don Luce, Bill Mikkelson, Gord Redden (Wade Redden's father), Stan Mikita, Hilliard Graves and even former Montreal Expos slugger Ellis Valentine.

Now other than Park and Mikita, most people will not have a clue who these athletes were. Lowetide introduces them to us with a meaningful tie-in to today's game.
