NHL Playoff Legends - Kate Smith

She probably isn't exactly the legend of hockey you were expecting to see today. No, she's no Rocket Richard, Mark Messier or Patrick Roy, but like the Detroit octopus and TSN's Maggie The Monkey, Philadelphia Flyers anthem singer Kate Smith truly ranks as a NHL playoff legend.

Singing "God Bless America" in place of "The Star Spangled Banner," Smith became the Flyers good luck charm. FlyersHistory.net lists game by game results when Smith's trademark song was either played or performed live. Her record - 68-19-3, including a home-opening loss to the New York Rangers in 2006-07 season.
