Gare Cheers For Rangers

Buffalo Sabres legend Danny Gare finds himself "in a rock and a hard place" as the Buffalo Sabres take on the New York Rangers.

Gare bled Buffalo blue and gold for most of his playing career, and even has his number retired by the team. But he is also the brother-in-law of Rangers coach Tom Renney.

"Blood is thicker than water. They may not want to hear that in Buffalo, though," Gare, now a color analyst for the Columbus Blue Jackets, told Globe & Mail.com.

While the Sabres are the favorites in the series, the Rangers do have an interesting historical quirk on their side:
The Rangers earned just their third best-of-seven series sweep in team history, tied with Toronto for the fewest among Original Six teams. However New York reached the Stanley Cup finals the two previous times, falling to Boston in 1972 and defeating Vancouver in 1994.
Could another Rangers' Finals appearance be in the cards?
