Gaetan Duchesne Dead At 44

Before the playoff push, I had finished a biography on Gaetan Duchesne, defensive forward extraordinaire with the Washington Capitals, Quebec Nordiques, Minnesota North Stars, San Jose Sharks and Florida Panthers.

I refrained from publishing the bio though. I felt that the timing was not appropriate. His bio would get lost in the news of the playoffs. I would wait until a more appropriate time I figured.

It is with great remorse that I have to announce that today is the appropriate time, because Duchesne has unfortunately grabbed the hockey headlines due to his unexpected death. The 44 year old fitness nut died of cardiac arrest while working out in a gym in Quebec City.

"Gator" was a highly underrated winger in his long NHL career. While the media and fans may not have appreciated his work, his teammates and coaches always did. Full Gaetan Duchesne Biography
