Chelios Keeps On Going

The mandate of this blog is to profiled retired hockey legends, but every once in a while I must profile an active player who is destined to be here one day anyways. Recently I've looked at Vincent Lecavalier and Trevor Linden. Today I want to point you in the direction of Eric Duhatschek's excellent piece on the ageless Chris Chelios.

Sharks' winger Bill Guerin, a former teammate of Chelios's, calls him a physical "freak of nature," but says: "He works his ass off too. He loves the game more than anybody I know. He deserves all the accolades he gets, with what he's done in his career and the type of leader he's been.

With all due respect to many great candidates - Pat Lafontaine, Mike Modano, Brian Leetch, Mike Richter, Rod Langway among others - Chelios is the greatest American player in hockey history.
