Ovechkin in lofty territory

While Hockey's Greatest Legends only celebrates retired players, you have to occassionally give full due to the true elite of today.

No doubt one of the true elite is Alexander Ovechkin. Ovechkin recently completed his 100th career NHL game. In that time, Ovechkin scored 64 goals and 64 assists for 128 points.

Kuklas Korner.com has some interesting stats comparisons between Ovechkin's first 100 games and that of some of the game's legends:

Most goals in first 100 NHL games:

Teemu Selanne - 84
Maurice Richard - 80
Mike Bossy - 76
Dino Ciccarelli - 69
Eric Lindros - 67
Pavel Bure - 64
Joe Nieuwendyk - 64
Alexander Ovechkin - 64

Other notables:
Wayne Gretztky - 61
Mario Lemieux - 60
Dale Hawerchuk - 58
Peter Stastny - 53
Sidney Crosby - 49
Steve Yzerman - 48
Denis Savard - 40
Peter Forsberg - 31
Gordie Howe - 17

Most points in first 100 NHL games:

Wayne Gretzky - 173
Teemu Selanne - 152
Mario Lemieux - 147
Dale Hawerchuk - 130
Sidney Crosby - 132
Alexander Ovechkin - 128
Eric Lindros - 128
Peter Forsberg - 124
Steve Yzerman - 115

Not bad company for Alexander the Gr8, or for that matter Sid The Kid.
