Canadiens Ghosts Proud Of American

Howie Morenz would be a very happy great-grandfather. Boom Boom Geoffrion, who married Morenz's daughter, would be a very ecstatic grandfather. Boom Boom's son Danny, a Canadiens 1st round draft pick in 1978, is a beemingly proud father.

As Globe and Mail's Tim Wharnsby explains, Blake Geoffrion is carrying on one of the proudest family traditions in hockey. Blake is playing LW with the Team USA WJC team this Christmas, and he hopes to extend his family's NHL ties to 4 generations.

Born in Plantation, Florida in 1988, Blake grew up in Nashville and dominated the Nashville youth hockey system. Blake, who is a freshman at the University of Wisconsin this year, was the first hometown draft pick for the Predators when they selected him 56th overall in 2006.
