Old time fans of the Vancouver Canucks were saddened to hear the news that former goaltender George Gardner was found dead in his Florida home.
Gardner was an original Canuck and was named as starting goalie in the franchise's very first game way back in 1970. His association with the city actually started two years earlier when he played with the Canucks of the old professional Western Hockey League.

He will be missed. Was my favorite canuck goalie when I was growing up as a kid. Still remember a Hockey Night in Canada broadcast against Toronto where he make some great saves to keep the Nucks in the game. Was a star in a 2-2 tie.
